Jim Veal uses the word oneiric, meaning “relating to dreams or dreaming” to describe his most recent practice in oils on canvas. He gives form to dream and non-matter in pure abstraction. He places emphasis on surface qualities and meticulousness, with layers of paints and illustrates with interaction of carefully chosen color in order to evoke a felt response. Jim Veal always expresses a wide range of emotion from joy and elation, longing and sorrow, to conviction, resulting from life, love, brutality and war.
